We're so thrilled for AHI projects to be shortlisted in two different categories in this year's KBDI Awards.
Our recently completed McMahons Point project gave us plentiful opportunities for submissions, and believe me, the process is not for the faint hearted. We're delighted to have made the Finalist stage, and we'll absolutely be getting our fanciest frocks on to attend the Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony in Melbourne this August.
You generally only get to see the glamorous after shots on our socials, so I thought it might be interesting to share our challenges when addressing the interior design elements of this grand North Sydney home.
Design Brief Kitchen / Pantry brief
Â
Re-design the kitchen and pantry in a classic Sydney Terrace House to optimise functionality, increase storage, and enhance aesthetic appeal while seamlessly integrating a convivial dining area.
Â
Optimise layout: Reallocate space to create a more functional layout, prioritising ease of movement, efficient workflow and more light.
Maximise storage: Re-work the existing floorplan to simplify, create more space and introduce innovative storage solutions to accommodate kitchen essentials while maintaining a clutter-free environment.
Luxe aesthetic: Blend modern luxury with heritage charm through carefully selected materials, finishes, and design elements.
Create a dedicated dining area within the kitchen, something that had been lacking in the existing layout.
Enhance the connection between the interior space and the courtyard/BBQ area by increasing the number of windows and optimising natural light.
Respect the architectural integrity of the home while infusing contemporary design elements for a harmonious blend of old and new.
Here are a few design details but you can find more here and on our socials. I keep meaning to put together a before and after reel on Insta... it's on the list!
We also submitted the Master Bedroom and Ensuite Bathroom...
Master Suite brief
Revamp the Master Bedroom and en-suite to craft a sanctuary befitting a 5-star hotel.
Enhance privacy: Redesign the entry to the bathroom to create a more secluded en-suite, providing privacy and elevated visual appeal.
Optimise space: Re-locate bath from its central position and design the bathroom layout to include full-size vanities and ample face-level storage.
Upgrade lighting: Improve lighting in the bathroom to enhance functionality and tie in with the aesthetic throughout the rest of the renovation.
Refined aesthetic: Achieve a sophisticated, hotel luxe look and feel throughout both bedroom and ensuite.
Improve storage: Redesign joinery to offer enhanced storage options, including a dedicated dressing table area and effective lighting.
Capitalise on view: Restructure the bedroom layout to better appreciate the scenic harbour view.
Enhance flow and layout: Improve the overall flow and layout of both spaces to ensure a seamless and cohesive design experience.
Again, some design details for your enjoyment! We do love a luxe bedroom/ bathroom experience.
